The Flames

Updated: Aug 29, 2023

Our lungs are on fire. Still. Our center of life is dying off as watch from the sidelines doing absolutely nothing except make it worse. The sky darkens as the blanket of ash covers the country of Brazil. The blanket of ash which is representative of all of the animal lives lost and the trees now dead. The Ash which carries along with it the remains of what physically gave us the air we breathe, what grew from the ground up and touched the clouds and produced the life we value so inexplicably much. The ravenous fires in the amazon are all consuming, they have no mercy. The destroy anything in their path and we are the instigators for this destruction.

The Amazon Forest is home to about 24 million people in brazil alone. Hundreds of thousands of them belonging to one of the 180 different indigenous groups. The Amazon Rainforest was the inspiration behind the word biodiversity, it is unbelievably filled with different varieties of life forms. In the last 40 years, 18% of the of the rainforest has burnt to the ground.

Our life has become so focused on the global economy and money that, that is all people have been concerned about. We corrupt natural resources for the sustainment of producing a well oiled economy (pun intended). So much so that the economy is stuck painfully still unless we somehow are destroying apart of the environment. It can be as simple as investing in a jar of Nutella. In hindsight everything is a butterfly effect. The Nutella you just bought contains the necessity of palm oil extraction, which potentially and most probably ended the life of an orangutang. The process of producing it deteriorates their already scarce homes. Everyone has a role in this commodity centralized system for improving the economy by deteriorating the environment wether we like it or not.

The Brazilian president, President Bolosonaro took office in January of 2019 and since then he has vocally expressed his governments agenda against environmental preservation. Giving forest destroyers the unrestricted ability to burn forests at their own will. Soon, its going to be too late to save the heart of our earth, and we will bear the consequences and experience the intense climate change that goes hand in hand with the destruction of the the Amazonian carbon sink and the main factor in the worlds over all climate control.

It is excruciatingly important to spread this message and make sure that we as members of the earth are participating in petitions and voicing our opinions to try to prevent companies and other governments from working with these forest destroyers.
